چکیده

P63 is basically a stem cell marker. It belongs to p53 protein family which comprises of transcription factors p53, p63, p73. P63 also possesses two isoforms which are interestingly with opposing characters. Its complexity remains unrevealed with helps in maintenance of genetic stability of germ cells, mechanisms of p63 behaves both monogenic as well as tumor suppressor of its various isoforms. P53 family regulates many vital biological process including cell differentiation, proliferation and cell death / apoptosis. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that p53 family was originated from p63 / p73-like ancestral gene early in metazoan evolution.P63 shows expression in various neoplasms, it is typically used as stem cell marker. Various evidences show over expression of p63 in squamous cell carcinoma. Unlike other exocrine glands salivary gland possess typical myoepithelial cells that have the ability to transform as neoplastic cell. Tumors of salivary glands are quiet interesting, based on studies done in population of atomicbomb survivors in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, radiation seems to provoke salivary gland neoplasms. In this review we are going to overlook anthropogenesis of p63 and its role in various neoplasms.

An Immunohistochemical Study Of P63 Protein Expression In Meningioma

Background and Objective: Histological grading has prognostic and therapeutic implications in meningioma. However, histological criteria are sometimes not fulfilled to predict the biological behavior of meningiomas. P63 gene is a novel P53 family member, known as tumor suppressor factor, with multiple isoforms and shows high expression in many normal and neoplastic human tissues. In this stu...

Immunohistochemical Analysis of P63 Expression in Odontogenic Lesions

P63 may have a role in tumorigenesis and cytodifferentiation of odontogenic lesions. We investigated the immunohistochemical expression of P63 in a total of 30 cases of odontogenic cysts and tumors. The percentage of positive cells was calculated in the lining of odontogenic cysts and islands of ameloblastoma. P63 expression was evident in all types of odontogenic lesions. P63 was expressed thr...

Immunohistochemical expression of CD10 in cutaneous basal and squamous cell carcinomas

Background: Non-melanoma skin cancer is the most common malignant tumor in humans. The role of ultraviolet radiation is well-known in the pathogenesis of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). CD10 is a zinc-dependent metallopeptidase known as common acute lymphoblastic leukemia antigen (CALLA). Although CD10 expression has been investigated in some cutaneous tu...
